Yangmei tree prefers to grow in slightly acid sandy soil surrounded by hills and streams, confined to the south of Yangtze River in warm and humid weather. It exhibits more tolerance to pests and diseases, thus is suited to being managed as a form of organic food production with few pesticides applied to it.
