Yangmei and Oligomeric Proanthocyanidins
OPC (Oligomeric Proanthocyanidins) is a kind of water-soluble pigment that can change its color with the density of acid and alkali of cell juice. OPC appears red-like if the acidity takes an overwhelming position in the cell juice and it appears blue-like if the alkalinity takes an overwhelming position in the cell juice. OPC is one of the major types of pigments composing the colors of flower petals and fruit. Produced through both the synthetic path of phenylpropiome acid and the synthetic path of flavonoid, OPC is a sort of purely natural complementary nutrient for anti-aging purpose.
Human body cannot produce OPC by itself. Plants are the only source of OPC, because OPC exists only in the seeds, leaves and peels of such mature plants as Yangmei fruit, hawthorn, gingko, blue berry, pomegranate, Hippophae rhamnoides, oleaster, leaves of lotus, and needle leaves of pine tree. According to scientific research, Yangmei is a kind of plant containing relatively more OPC than any other kinds of plants.
